18th May, 2018

Today we’ve unveiled our new shop-front in Marrickville. It’s not too big a change, but we’ve decided to make our product more easily accessible to our loyal customers and give it some love for the upcoming winter season… Along with the minor fixer-upper comes a whole new batch of product and specials.

The savings are absolutely unreal… We’ve got cookies for $1, bags of muesli for $10, Sausage/Spinach & Feta rolls for $5 a box (I know right! Come and feed the family!) and Caramel Slice for $5 a box too… the sales continue in-store.

Come and give us a visit to cop some hearty treats for as little as $4… That’s couch money!

Fantastic Food & Drink 2018!

17th May, 2018

At the beginning of the month we, Epicurean Kitchen, attended the Fantastic Food & Drink Expo in Darling Harbour, Sydney. The expo was held at the ICC Centre, which is newly built, making for an excellent space to present a myriad of products. Our stall was in collaboration with Opera Foods and we created a beautiful mess atop our fridge to showcase our delicious products.

We had large success with oncoming interest from consumers, distributors and small business’, sampling 4 iconic Epicurean products for 2 days straight. Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake, Carrot & Pineapple Cake and our Sydney Mud Cake. If you saw us at the show, come on down to our store in Marrickville and cop some extremely good prices for the products you love!

We’d like to say a big thanks to Opera Foods for giving us a home at this event & to the fantastic event coordinators (pun intended) for accomodating our needs and making the expo an absolute pleasure.

To keep up to date with all our stalls, events, new products or specials, follow our instagram! (@epicurean_kitchen)

How to Host the Perfect Dinner Party

7th December, 2016

Tis the season for festive dinner parties and endless gatherings of friends and family. Perhaps it is your turn to host or to provide desserts, if so, we have got you covered.

The first thing you need to do is organise a guest list, try to choose people that you know will get along and remove the possibility of awkward dinner table chat and arguments about politics…

After you’ve deliberated your guest list, it’s super important to send out invites as the holiday season is jam-packed with events and obligatory functions. Be sure to include any additional information about a possible theme/pot-luck type of dinner.

Furthermore, the menu is a fundament for the gathering, so to start, identify any dietary requirements of your guests and then start to plan. Try to make the menu seasonal and interwoven, you wouldn’t want to serve a fresh fruity appetiser and a broth – it just wouldn’t go! Ensure that the menu also coordinates with the dessert, the most important part. It’s Christmas, people want to indulge and put their summer bodies on hold and any of Epicurean’s new and improved Christmas range would work perfectly at any dinner party. Try our Christmas slice or pudding and there’s even some cupcakes and Christmas themed mallow cones for the kids!

Once you’ve organised all of the above, it’s the perfect time to deck the table! Scout your local dollar stores for simplistic items such as glassware and candles. Don’t be afraid to splurge on a few statement pieces for the table… Pinterest always comes in handy!

Now on the day, bust out the Christmas bangers, dress up & drink up! Our guide to the perfect dinner party will be sure to make your event a success!

Is Imitation the Highest Form of Flattery?

8th November, 2016

It’s hard to invent new ideas so we tend to innovate. Take existing ideas and throw your twist on them. The dessert industry is the same. Cakes and slices and treats are innovated every day with flavours and concepts that exceed the common imagination, but imitation goes both ways.

Companies with the same nature as Epicurean Kitchen often take ideas from our cakes and create their own. There is little problem with that except when they fail to meet the same standards of our product. Our iconic Mortal Sin cake is the most thieved idea among many cake shops, imitating the stratigraphic format. The four layers consist of a crumbly chocolate biscuit base topped with a smooth baked cheesecake layer, a dense hand folded mousse on top of that and the final layer is rich butterscotch cream.

It is no doubt that the cake has been copied and copied for years, but some fail to imitate. Which causes confusion and can ultimately damage the reputation of the glorious cake.

Perhaps it is the greatest compliment, but always strive for the best.

(And by that we mean, click the link below to buy the OG Mortal Sin!) Because it would be ungodly not to…

22nd July, 2016

IMG_0917

Just because it tastes so good, doesn’t mean it’s all good right?

Wrong – there are many health and psychological benefits that come with this fantastic dessert which will make you feel less guilty tonight when you sit down with a slice of Mortal Sin and tea!

1. It makes you happier

All jokes aside, there are serious benefits to your mental health from such a treat! Scientists in Belgium discovered that people’s emotions were calmed when presented with a fatty drip rather than a saline drip, which is saying that cake really does comfort us!

2. Cake can come in many forms…

There are all types of cakes that we can try, some vegan options, clean options, differing flavours… the possibilities are endless! Therefore, you never get sick of the taste and can always expand your horizons with healthy and naughty cakes too.

3. It’s a great social food

Having a slice of cake or some other treats on display whilst entertaining is the perfect conversation topic and setting whilst conversing with guests. It makes their experience better too remembering such delicious baby cheesecakes from our very kitchen!

4. Our new goodsome range is actually good for YOU!

The Goodsome foods range is delicious and healthy too, Goodsome has brought to you a Wholegrains range and a Simple Chocolate cake which you can learn about in our previous blog post. Eating cake every night has never been cleaner!

Why Goodsome?

12th July, 2016

IMG_0843 (1)IMG_0893

What’s so goodsome about our brand new goodsome range? Well, these days it hard to find a dessert product that’s handmade, fresh and packed full of goodness, whilst still tasting good. Most products disguise their sugar input by using fake sugars such as ‘sucrose’ or ‘aspartame’, then claiming that the foo d has 0% sugar but is packed full of artificial sugar substitutes.

This is why here at Epicurean Kitchen we have strived to create a product that is simple, delicious and clean so there’s no guilty feeling afterwards! With as little as 19 grams of carbs in our Simple Chocolate Cake and only three ingredients, there’s no going wrong with a cup of tea and some cake after dinner.

Our delicious Wholegrains range is encompassing the current trends of grain products and stone fruits. Produced from a simple meal, nuts and seeds and topped with berries, pepita seeds and various stone fruits, all unprocessed and kind to your body.

So before you go to buy the ‘low carb, no sugar’ muffin from the supermarket, check the ingredients and try our new Goodsome range.

Does branding work?

17th June, 2016

I guess, this is a question for other businesses reading this.

Companies spend millions in advertising, advertorials, promotions and giveaways, just to convince the customer that their product is better.

Most people tend to believe the hype surrounding an ad campaign and are usually swayed into trying the product, but next time they go shopping……. Will they buy the same product. Branding doesn’t always work, I guess it’s upto the individual business. You could have the best marketing team, but if the quality is not always consistent then you might be throwing away money on useless advertising.

One very smart person told me once the consistent quality is the key to on going business, it doesn’t matter if that’s to a small group of people or to the masses. Consistency means your product is always the same, this is important as the consumer wants to make sure that it tastes, performs and even leaves them with the same satisfying finish. This relates not just to food but anything you provide. Just remember keep it the same as always and customers will keep coming back.

Epicurean Kitchen has always strived for consistent quality and we have products that have not changed their recipe in over 35 years, the reason is because they still work, the minute we do we will be notified by our customers who always insist on the same quality.
